Whittlesford's roads and paths get an upgrade
After a good deal of lobbying of the County Council Highways team has got a result with resurfacing the footpath leading down Station Road at Whittlesford as well as resurfacing North Road and also New Farm Road.
When I was at the village discussion arranged by the Parish Council last week about the Whittlesford Station Travel hub I got some positive comments about the quality of the work, and I have passed these on to the depot manager.
I also passed on the need to repaint the roundels at the end of Newton Road where they have worn away, and the big pothole in Station Road needs attention. But generally, looking good.
The footpath is heavily used by commuters heading back to their cars parked along Station and Royston Roads - but it also used by residents and needed doing. There has been quite a bit of development along Station Road - some of it by people rebuilding and extending houses, as well as commercial bigger sites, and the footpath has taken a bashing. There is a review of streetlighting going on and so this may be the opportunity to check whether there should be more light along the road, ready for the winter evenings.
Its difficult to imagine winter when its over 30 degrees, as it has been today, but the nights are already drawing in…
