Saturday's Heathfest a hot event!
Saturday afternoon saw the Heathfield area (Ringstone, Hurdles Way, Pepperslade and the original Heathfield estate) come together for the first Heathfest, arranged as a fundraiser for the Heart charity which last year raised the money for refurbishment of the children's play area. The weather was broiling hot in the afternoon but there was plenty for children to do, with facepainting from Ladybirds, bouncy castles, and so on.
The event moved into a hog roast, live music (on a stage unit supplied by Welch's transport), with a very good beer festival ongoing throughout the day (with the Plough at Duxford providing technical equipment and landlord Ben supervising from his upended haybale at the bar). Robert Smith Farms generously allowed the use of their land. Lots of local sponsors including KWS from Thriplow.
The three main organisers were Kelly, Sabrina and Hazel, with many helpers, but the great thing was seeing the Heathfield community having a good time for a good cause.
