Duxford's Brewery Fields vision - getting the access right
A site visit with county highways on a beautiful hot afternoon the other week showed the Brewery Fields project in Duxford making progress.
I met with the highways manager, Evan, and the two parish councillors driving the proposals forward. The purpose was to see what pedestrian - including buggies and mobility scooters - access would be needed to the site so that when the planning proposals go on this particular issue has already been scoped and considered.
The highways manager gave his opinions on what was needed - and that will be fed into the proposals. At the moment to get onto the fields you duck through a gap in the hedge - and of course there has to be safe access, at least at either end of the length of the fields, with some form of barrier to make sure children don't run out onto the road. So progress is being made.
