work starts on masterplanning Whittlesford station
The team appointed by the Greater Cambridge Partnership to masterplan Whittlesford station and the area around it are getting going. They are writing out to groups including Whittlesford and Duxford parish councils, and explaining their terms of reference and how they want to capture local understanding of the problems.
The reason for this work is because of the potential growth near Whittlesford Parkway train station and the increasing commuting levels at the station. The master planning exercise will identify the transport interventions required to improve capacity and connectivity, as well as mitigate congestion in the area. After this has been completed, a Rural Travel Hub for Whittlesford can be explored in more detail. WYG, an engineering consultancy, have been commissioned to undertake the project.
