Travellers back at Thriplow Heath
As the government announces a review of the law around illegal traveller sites, residents at Thriplow are seeing the travellers return for the second time in two months to the land that is protected by a High Court Injunction west of the Pet Crem on the A505. Residents have complained about flytipping on the land there as well as the scale of the movements there. 15 vehicles plus a mini-digger on a trailer and a 7 tonne lorry is industrial not domestic visiting.
The police did attend this evening. The council will be ensuring the High Court injunction is renotified tomorrow but it is not immediately enforceable. The costs where public land is occupied, as happened last year in too many of our villages, falls to the parish council, with the district council being called in to clear away the waste afterwards.
