Northstowe numbers provide affordable homes boost
Over 500 affordable homes will be coming out of the ground at the new town of Northstowe in the next three years.
Sorting out the flood risk defences at Northstowe will unlock Phase 2 of the new town, allowing 3,500 homes to be built, 1700 of which will be affordable houses. Of these 540 of them will have started on site by 2022 thanks to grants from the Combined Authority.
This Wednesday the Combined Authority of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough agreed a series of housing grants and loans that will see £3.66m spent to build 612 affordable homes across the county, of which 90% will be these 540 houses at Northstowe (360 shared ownership, 180 affordable rent).
A further £6.5m was agreed for a Community Land Trust at Haddenham which will deliver 19 affordable CLT houses and 35 market sale houses.
