its sometimes the little things that count...
I meet regularly with the county highways team at the depot at Whittlesford Bridge just off the A505. Over coffee we go over the work that parishes are looking for, and how best to tackle that within the limited budgets available.
Sometimes its the little improvements that make the big difference to our villages: the white lines at a cross roads in Fowlmere that needed sharpening up, the potholes repaired at Newton that an elderly villager told me had been the bane of her life for years, the children playing sign at Gt Abington, or, as in this case, some temporary reflectors round the war memorial at Duxford, after the bollards were damaged by a careless passing HGV.
The work was done quickly and with no fuss - but its important because further damage to the site would have neded up with a much bigger bill. The parish clerk was very grateful to the highways boys.
