Fiat lux - finally!
The lamp posts in our villages are a more complicated set up than you would imagine. Some are owned by the parish council, and some by the county, and some by the district. The county lamp posts were all upgraded about five years ago, and some taken out, because the light quality was better and higher. The yellow sodium light ones tend to be old parish council ones.
But over the years lamp posts were put in and then forgotten about, believe it or not, and this happened in Duxford at Laceys Way and at Blakeland Hill where lamp posts were decommissioned, a bit of yellow tape strapped round what was left, and then the contractors said they were too busy to repair. I got Laceys Way sorted earlier in the year and I am pleased to report that the district council has now got Balfour Beatty to fix the Blakeland Hill one, in time for when the clocks go back and winter darkness sets in.
