traffic update....local road safety schemes
First off good luck to all parish councils making a pitch today and tomorrow to the County Council highways improvement fund - I have worked closely with parish chairs and clerks to advise on what can help to get funding.
I had a good catch-up with the team at the highways depot and we went through various issues that parish councils have asked me to chase up. I was pleased to hear that the site visit to decide where "children at play signs" at Magna Close at Gt Abington was going ahead, and we arranged for some road signs to be refreshed at Babraham. The drain clearance work at Thriplow had slowed and I will pick up with the parish council. Needs to be done in time for Daffodil week-end.
We agreed to meet up with the county cycling team _ who are opening the Babraham Institute cycle way this Friday - to explore Ickleton's request for a cycling route that goes south to Gt Chesterford rail station.
That morning work had started on fixing the flooding problems along some sections of the A505 (see pic). One major issue for highways is that when landowners neglect their ditches, people come to the county council to complain, but the problem is often further up-stream so to speak.
